Runners-up: Pain and Glory (Spain)

Should Win: Parasite (South Korea)

Runners-up: Honeyland (North Macedonia), Pain and Glory (Spain)

My Choice: Parasite (South Korea)

My Nominees: Portrait of a Lady on Fire (France), Pain and Glory (Spain), Corpus Christi (Poland), Honeyland (North Macedonia)

Runners-up: Atlantics (Senegal)

The biggest snub in this category is Portrait of a Lady on Fire, which represents more of an oversight by France (which instead submitted Les Misérables- an important film, but not as striking a representation of the cinematic experience as Portrait) than a glaring omission by the Academy. Parasite has made waves this awards season ever since it won the Palme d'or at Cannes, and may even win Best Picture, so a win in this category is inevitable.
